A snow snake is a piece of 2" wood shaped like a ski but painted and decorated to look like a snake. Every year each Y - Guide make one with their parent and we race them down a snow covered hill during the winter camp-out Awards are given for the fastest snakes in each age group and overall.
It's like a winter version of a Pinewood Derby and just like the Pinewood there are also creativity awards.
It's a very unique & fun tradition for the Tonquish Creek Expedition YMCA Guides Program.
The file below is runs down the rules and how to go about making one. Keep an eye on the calendar, don't let the Winter camp-out sneak up on you without having your snake ready to race.
Take a look at our Photo Gallery. It may help you generate some ideas.
